I am currently reading Jack Hurst's book Nathan Bedford Forrest. The book is rich in stories about Forrest and is a fine supplement to Brian Wills biography. I am also reading Wiley Sword's rewrite of Shiloh Bloody April. Following our 2002 tour in which Sword put forth documentation about a new location for Johnston's fatal wounding I wanted to see what else he believes has changed over the past 20 years since he first wrote the book. I just finished Gordon Rhea's book Carrying the Flag--the story of Private Charles Whitten of the 1st SC. He becomes a hero at Spotsylvania. A good book and fine reminder of the plight and heroism of the common soldier. My next three books will be First With The Most by Robert Selph Henry; Fanny Kemble's Civil Wars by Catherine Clinton and The Stand of the US Army at Gettysburg by Jeffrey C. Hall.
